Song Lyrics

Hello There

Hello there.
How are you?
It’s so nice
To see you.
We’ll sing and
Be happy
That we’re all here together again.
Kenyan Dances
East African Folk Song; Transcribed by Dan LeJeune, Arranged by Tim Gregory

1. Twaingia
Twaingia (We are entering the stage)
Sisi wana muziki. (We are the musicians)

2. Wacheze Kidogo
Ni nani twamtuma, asalimie wageni? (Who do we send to greet our guests?)
Jamani twawatuma. (Our people will greet the guests)
Wacheze kidogo, wabaki wakicheka. (Dance a little and leave the audience laughing.)
Do Re Mi
Music by Richard Rodgers, Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II

Doe, a deer, a female deer
Re, a drop of golden sun
Mi, a name I call myself
Fa, a long, long way to run
So, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow So
Ti, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do (oh-oh-oh)
Somos El Barco
Music & Lyrics by Lorre Wyatt

Chorus:
Somos el barco, somos el mar,
Yo navego en ti, tu navegas en mi.
We are the boat, we are the sea,
I sail in you, you sail in me.

El arroyo le canta al rio,
El rio le canta al mar
Y el mar le canta el barco
Que lejos nos va a llevar.

[Chorus]

The stream sings it to the river,
The river sings it to the sea
The sea sings it to the boat
That carries you and me.

[Chorus]
Rainbow
Music & Lyrics by Kacey Musgraves, Shane McAnally, Natalie Hemby; Arranged by Mark Brymer

When it rains, it pours,
But you didn't even notice it ain't rainin' anymore.
It's hard to breathe when all you know is
The struggle of stayin' above the risin' water line.
Well, the sky has finally opened,
The rain and wind stopped blowin',
But you're stuck out in the same ol' storm again.
You hold tight to your umbrella,
Well, darlin', I'm just tryin' to tell ya,
That there's always been a rainbow hangin' over your head.

If you could see what I see, you'd be blinded by the colors
Yellow, red, and orange, and green, and at least a million others.
So tie up the bow, take off your coat, and take a look around
'Cause the sky has finally opened,
The rain and wind stopped blowin',
But you're stuck out in the same ol' storm again.
You hold tight to your umbrella,
Well, darlin', I'm just tryin' to tell ya,
That there's always been a rainbow hangin' over your head.

Oh, tie up the bow, take off your coat, and take a look around
Everything is alright now
'Cause the sky has finally opened,
The rain and wind stopped blowin',
But you're stuck out in the same ol' storm again.
You hold tight to your umbrella,
Well, darlin', I'm just tryin' to tell ya,
That there's always been a rainbow hangin' over your head.
Yeah, there's always been a rainbow hangin' over your head
Mm, mm, mm
It'll all be alright.
Why a Caged Bird Sings
Words by Maya Angelou; Music by Rollo Dilworth

A free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wing
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
and he names the sky his own
But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.
Deep, Deep

We say it deep, deep, we say it down, down,
We say it deep, down in our hearts.
We’ll make sure peace and justice ring, deep, down in our hearts.
We’ll make sure peace and justice ring, deep, down in our hearts.

We say it deep, deep, we say it down, down,
We say it deep, down in our hearts.
We are trustees of this sacred earth, deep down in our hearts.
We are trustees of this sacred earth, deep down in our hearts.

This Pretty Planet
Music & Lyrics by Tom Chapin and John Forster

This pretty planet,
spinning through space.
You’re a garden,
you’re a harbor,
You’re a holy place.
Golden sun going down,
Gentle blue giant,
spin us around.
All through the night,
Safe till the morning light.
