DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS
(10 hours/week)
Description:
Outreach
Cultivate partnerships with schools and community and cultural organizations for recruitment and collaborations. Cultivate artistic and educational partnerships in NYC with a focus on West Harlem.
- Build on EVC’s current networks with public schools and community organizations by making regular on-site visits, presenting at school events, and following visits and presentations with email and phone contact.
- Be a point of contact and support for families of children recruited to EVC through the Diversity Scholarship partnerships with schools.
- Build EVC’s presence in Arts and Education in West Harlem by attending community meetings including committees on Arts & Culture and Education, Youth, & Libraries; attend events hosted by funders and promoters of the arts in Harlem, New York City and New York State.
- Develop networks for artistic and educational partnerships in NYC.
Communications
Ensure that current members, potential members, audiences, supporters, and community members are regularly informed about EVC’s programs and events so that they can participate fully in EVC’s work.
- Working with Executive Director, review communications strategy and develop a coherent and strategic plan for communications, including emails, e-blasts, and social media content
- Develop and maintain editorial and online publishing calendar to ensure that there is a pipeline of fresh content to publish online and distribute through newsletter and social media channels throughout the choirs’ season and during the summer. Refine editorial calendar based on content engagement metrics.
- Maintain EVC’s website with upcoming events and archives.
- Maintain and expand EVC’s social media presence.
- Oversee advertising via google ads, Facebook, and Instagram and other online and print platforms.
Compensation: Hourly $20-$28 depending on qualifications and experience in Communications and Community Outreach
DIRECTOR OF PHILANTHROPY (Approx 10 hours/week)
Increase financial support for EVC’s programs. Cultivate individual giving, corporate sponsorship, foundation/governmental grants, and fundraising efforts.
- Research and identify prospective funders.
- Write grants, oversee compilation of supplemental materials and submit applications.
- Prepare grant/funder impact reports.
- Maintain updated development calendar (grants, reports, fundraisers).
- Cultivate relationships with donors (individual, foundation, governmental, corporate).
Compensation: Hourly $25-$28 depending on qualifications and experience in nonprofit fund development.
INTERN FOR DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS
(Approx 8 hours/week)
- Participate in grant research, compiling supplemental materials, and submitting applications.
- Participate in preparing grant/funder impact reports.
- Participate in designing and executing social media strategy, including generating content and posting.
- Participate in designing and distributing print materials.
- Participate in planning and executing community events and fundraising events.
Compensation: Hourly $20
