Lead the Way Lyrics
Composed by EVC Youth Choir Fall 2016 with Carlton Taylor, Drew Coles & Nicole Becker
Who will stand and chase away the darkness,
Bridge the river that divides humanity?
Lead us toward the light of justice as we seek the promised land.
Who will lead us? Maybe you can.
Lead the way
Find the light
Hear the voices showing you the way
Tomorrow is for you and me.
The things that make me different are the things that make me, me.
If we were all the same how boring planet earth would be.
Let's celebrate our differences, our diversity,
Listen to each other, stand in solidarity.
I'm thankful to the people who have guided me in life
Who shaped me and protected me through adversity and strife:
To parents, teachers, authors, friends who helped to pave the way
You've taught me what a leader is, now I can stand and say
And in the darker days,
When we are scared,
When fear & animosity pollute the air
Break us open, help us prepare
To love our brothers, help each other,
Sisters, daughters, fathers, mothers
We can learn to share, learn to care.
When you think that the road is rough and you feel like you've had enough
That burns inside of you telling you to push through
Shout, let freedom ring, build a bridge t'wards unity
Leaders help build a bridge, not a wall
Leaders don't need a crown to help us all
Take the lead if you're with us, show the way
Do the work if you're with us, for a brighter day.
Will you stand and chase away the darkness,
Bridge the river that divides humanity?
If you'll listen to my questions, if you'll try to understand
I will follow you - and lead you - hand in hand.
Who will stand and chase away the darkness,
Bridge the river that divides humanity?
Lead us toward the light of justice as we seek the promised land.
Who will lead us? Maybe you can.
Lead the way
