EVC - Where Every Voice Matters
Every Voice Choirs helps young people discover their voices and share them with pride. We are music educators who empower children by teaching them to share their voices confidently through their singing and throughout their lives.
Based at Columbia University Teachers College, EVC is unique for bringing exceptional choral training to ALL children. Everyone ages 7-16 is welcome in EVC's core choirs - Kids Choir and Youth Choir - without audition. EVC VoiceAbility is for children ages 8-12 with special needs. For EVC singers who seek additional, rigorous choral training, the Concert Choir provides the opportunity to perform challenging works in collaborations with adult choirs and orchestras. Among its notable performances, The Concert Choir has performed two world premieres at Carnegie Hall.
EVC's choirs are led by Columbia faculty who are leaders in choral education, and all of EVC's singers perform at premier NYC venues, including Merkin Hall and Miller Theater.
Recognizing how deeply personal voices are, EVC builds on students' experience, ability, and interests, helping them set goals for their vocal, musical, and personal development, and working with them to achieve those goals. Students are nurtured as musical thinkers and leaders who improvise freely, create their own songs, and share their voices and their ideas throughout the process of learning and performing.
