EVC Concert Choir

The EVC Concert Choir is designed to meet the needs of our singers aged 11-18 who seek rigorous choral training and professional performance opportunities. The Concert Choir collaborates with adult vocal and instrumental ensembles as well as composers and other performing artists for performances, recordings, and other events. The Concert Choir has performed at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium and Zankel Hall, Merkin Hall, CitiField, and other premier New York City venues in collaboration with adult choirs including The Cecilia Chorus, Cantori New York, and the Teachers College Choir. Other performances include Performa Biennial and appearances in film (Sony Pictures) and television.

The Concert Choir is EVC's only ensemble that requires auditions. In the audition process,  have an informal feel; in the audition process, which has an informal feel, the Music Director assesses singers' vocal development and ability to learn challenging musical passages. Accepted singers and their families must commit to the full rehearsal and performance schedule. Throughout the season, singers must demonstrate their ability to successfully sing all repertoire in rehearsals; building this proficiency may require regular independent practice and/or extra rehearsals.

The Concert Choir rehearses Fridays 4-6 pm at Columbia University Teachers College (525 West 120th St), with additional rehearsals as needed for performance preparations. See the rehearsal schedules for 2025-2026 here. EVC Concert Choir will return to its ninth performance at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium in April 2026, with The Cecilia Chorus of New York and Orchestra, Mark Shapiro, conductor.
