In our ensemble for youth ages 11-16, students are trained in healthy vocal technique as they learn a diverse array of repertoire in multiples genres and work collaboratively to write their own songs.
The ensemble performs three times annually in intergenerational concerts on themes of social and environmental justice with all of EVC's ensembles in premiere NYC venues, usually Merkin Hall at the Kaufman Music Center and Miller Theater at Columbia University. Performance opportunities are designed to be joyful experiences that promote the growth and confidence of our young singers and musicians.
There is no vocal audition required to join the Youth Choir; we ask only a firm commitment to full participation in all rehearsals and performances. Students who are not able to meet expectations for participation may be dismissed from the choir.
EVC Youth Choir rehearses weekly on Thursdays 5-6 pm at The Riverside Church (W 120th St/Claremont Ave).
